Story of the watch begins in France, between two World Wars…

Our owner's grandfather, Matthew, was a WWI veteran with a passion for watches that he wanted to share with the world. He knew that to create the finest timepieces, he needed the best movement - Swiss, of course. Fortunately, Switzerland was only a few miles away from his small hometown of Mercury, France. There, he sourced the finest Swiss movements and began handcrafting his masterpieces.

Matthew’s business flourished, his watches becoming known for their precision and artistry. However, as WWII swept through Europe, he was forced to close his shop for good.

This special edition marks the 105th anniversary of the birth of the Matthew Mercury idea. From Mercury to the world, Matthew’s vision lives on.
